Project: MDEQ Petoskey Petrolane Petoskey, Mi.
Date: September-October 2009
Scope: Former MGP site. Contaminated soil removal, sheeting design and installation, water treatment, dewatering and site restoration.
In 2009, K&D completed sediment removal, sheeting, dewatering, solidification, disposal, water treatment and site restoration at the former Petoskey MGP site located on Little Traverse Bay in downtown Petoskey, Michigan. The project was completed for AECOM under USEPA contract. Total soil removal volume was approximately 4,800-tons.
The groundwater treatment system was sized to handled flow rates of up to 60-gpm. The system consisted of fractionation tanks, sand filter, bag filter, organo-clay canister, tri-carb canister, and two granular activated carbon (GAC) canisters. Average flow rates were approximately 30-60 GPM. Approximately 1.2 million gallons were treated and discharged under an NPDES permit to Bear Creek. Site restoration consisted of beach sand replacement and grading.
